Course leader: Mike Wintle

Mike Wintle has been an LEA Primary Adviser for three years. Previous to this, he was Head teacher in three schools in a variety of authorities. His experiences range from rural situations to extremely challenging schools in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. His previous schools are all now rated as extremely successful, standards are in the top five percent and OFSTED has judged them to be “very good”.
For many years, Mike has worked as a consultant for both Manchester and Hull Universities, working with the International Leadership Centre and leading national courses on leadership and assessment leading to target setting. He is the author of the best selling assessment book entitled Co-ordinating Assessment Across the Primary School published by Routledge Falmer Press. Mike has also contributed to Performance Management in School edited by professor John West Burnham and published by Pearson.

Mike has undertaken in service training provision in a large number of LEAs and schools. He has worked for many years as a senior marker for a large examination group.

Who should attend?

This course will advise and support any teacher wishing to seek promotion or who is seeking to actively take part in leading their Key Stage/Subject within their school. Over the course of the last 30 years, much has been written about leadership that has almost ‘magicalised’ the term. The course will debunk the idea that leaders are born and show how most teachers can become an effective leader and impact on school improvement.

Fee:
