Using and Applying Mathematics at KS1 and KS2

with Jeannie Billington & Mike Hall

Tuesday, 13th March 2012 – Central London

Children making sense of their own mathematical learning and understanding.

The New Primary Framework places greater emphasis(UAM) and this is reflected in the recent identification of UAM as a national priority.
“Learners are engaged by successful & exciting learning. They become involved in finding out for themselves, askin and answering questions of their own, sharing what they have discovered with others. The posing of questions is an element of creativity. It starts the process needed for the generation of ideas that are new to the learner, which take them on a route of discovery.”

Teaching pupils how to use and apply mathematics is a particular weakness.
